Gupta maintains his innocence and says he wants to rebuild his life in his first interview after his release from jail in 2016. Despite being convicted guilty by a jury of three counts of securities fraud and one conspiracy charge, and not guilty on two other charges, Gupta told CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin that he is innocent.
